Both board-certified. Both passionate about pediatric care. And both choosing Austin as home — the same way you do.
"Our goal is for every child to leave with a smile — not just a clean chart."
— Dr. Steve Hernandez
Diplomate ABPD · Major, USAF Reserve
Dr. Steve Hernandez earned his Bachelor of Science from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, and his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas. He completed a rigorous two-year pediatric dentistry residency at Children's Medical Center Dallas, Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, and Baylor College of Dentistry.
He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry — a credential held by fewer than half of all board-eligible pediatric dentists. He served as President of the Southwestern Society of Pediatric Dentistry in 2014 and sits on the Scientific Planning Committee of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
Beyond the operatory, Dr. Steve serves as a Major in the United States Air Force Reserve — named Officer of the Quarter at Lackland AFB in 2011. He is a former board member of the Lake Travis Education Foundation and Highland Lakes Health Partnership, and received the 2008 Lake LBJ Citizen of the Year Award.
Diplomate ABPD · Orthodontics Fellowship · Mother of 5
Dr. Angie Hernandez grew up in Arkansas and earned her Bachelor of Science from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. She completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, followed by the same two-year pediatric specialty residency as Dr. Steve — at Children's Medical Center Dallas, Texas Scottish Rite Hospital, and Baylor College of Dentistry.
She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and holds additional fellowship training in orthodontics — allowing her to evaluate and coordinate Invisalign and orthodontic care seamlessly within the practice.
As a mother of five, Dr. Angie brings a perspective that most dental credentials can't confer: genuine understanding of what Austin parents need to hear, and how children actually experience dental visits. She is an active supporter of the Center for Child Protection and a volunteer with Christina's Smile and Theo Van dental outreach programs.
"As a mom of five, I know exactly what it takes to make a child feel safe in the chair — and a parent feel confident in the care."
— Dr. Angie Hernandez
Both doctors completed a 2-year CODA-accredited pediatric dental residency beyond dental school — covering sedation, hospital dentistry, special needs, and infant care.
Diplomate status requires passing comprehensive written and oral examinations from the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry — fewer than half of eligible dentists complete it.
Diplomates maintain active membership in the AAPD and pursue continuing education annually — so your child always receives care that reflects current best practices.
